watching this having been recovered yesterday with exactly same problem. have ordered a rectifier so should i just bite the bullet and go for coils?

Not sure if anyone of you all might see this. But im looking at doing this with an EFI speedmaster. I found a bonnie tank on ebay. Doesnt have a fuel pump. Do you know if they share the same fuel pump/plate?

Did you stock brake line pipe and whow do you bleed the system after a new line has been fitted. Regards Phil.

Had the same issue with the broken plastic parts. Broke them all away, crimped a nickel sheet (0.4mm) on the end of the spring. Now the sheet is holding down the needle, worked.

It would be great to hear the noise it’s making BEFORE you make the repair, I have a knocking going on and I would have liked to hear the noise that engine is making.

I’ve put new indicators and brake/running light. Running light is good and indicators and good, but can not get the brake light to work now

Did you life become unmanageable?

Top tip. You'd think there would not be enough "lift" to pull the piston, but it there is and it does work!!

Is it much harder to change the whole clutch while you’re in there? I’ll be do updated springs soon along with exhaust and remap. But the bike has about 20k on the odometer and clutch. It’s not slipping but if it’s not much more effort I’d probably opt for the whole thing.

Hi mate, when you took the carb solenoid out was there anything you needed to do by way of bridging the connector on the wiring harness? Or can you just unplug, put tape over it and forget? Cheers 😊

Do you need to need to drain the oil to check the spring tensioner?

I'm kind of doing the same but opposite... I'm fitting black Speedmaster casings to my 04 Bonneville in place of the chrome T100 casings. I already modified a silver America sprocket cover, I had to cut and grind it to get it to fit over the rear master cylinder and for the footpeg mount to clear the bottom of it, but mangaged to kerp the overall shape. I could cut up the black Speedmaster sprocket cover but I'll spray the America one first which should do... I tried to fit the Speedmaster clutch cover as I kind of like the fake "derby cover" but the Gearchange Shaft is too short, so I've had to order a used America/Speedmaster Gearchange Shaft Assy T1190850 to replace the T100 part T1190910, ordered a new oil fiter, sump washer and already had new stator, clutch and shift cover gaskets. I also had to order a front sprocket retainer as the sprocket has to come off to replace the Gearchange shaft, hopefully I can change the shaft without pulling the clutch/flywheel sprocket. I noticed your gear shift sticks out quite a bit on your America Bonneville project. Hopefully the America shaft will allow the shaft and shifter to clear the casing as I'm not fitting forward controls. I didn't get the Speedmaster cam cover, but I have a yellow Sixty8 cam cover, yellow side panels and yellow tank cover I fitted to hide a small dent on the top of the tank. Painted the tank black under the cover as it was the Blue/White with the red pinstripe. Gone the opposite to your lowered America to Bonneville project by fiting black CBR600 cartridges to tje Triumph forks, and ZRX1100 rear shocks to make the bike higher like a Scrambler.

I just got a 2001 Bonnie and I'm having the same clutch chatter problem as you had so I'm very happy I found your UA-cam channel! ;) I wanted to ask you something before I order a bunch of parts. What exactly did you have to change to finally fix it? Just the clutch basket assembly form the later model (2016?) Bonnie or did you have to change a couple other parts as well? Sorry if you explained it in the video and that I didn't get it, I'm pretty new to clutch work so I'm a little confused about the exact parts needed for the fix. Thanks again! Cheers, Regis.

I need to do this. I just checked the valves on an 07 Bonnie I just picked up. There's a couple that are right on the edge of the limit. I'd feel better if they were more in the middle of the specs. What does the small tool you slide into the gear do exactly?

Just stumbled across your channel. Thanks mate, from the Colonies. I just bought a 2002 Bonneville America, and this vid was quite helpful as I have to change tires, brake pads and a need to check bearings/seals. I hope you have some vids that will help with front wheel maintenance and disc pad changing. I'm subscribing to your channel and hope you keep up with important maintenance tips on these older bikes. I did have a bit of a cringe factor with you using a steel punch rather than a brass one on cast aluminum. No worries, been there done that.

What does it feel like when the bikes drops a cylinder for just a second... cause mine is acting weird at idle from time to time. I'l be sitting at a light and all of the sudden the tach drops 500 rpms then goes back to normal 1000 - 11000... or it'll shut the bike off if the idle isn't set high enough.

I ordered a new petcock....and three weeks into having it the darn thing is doing the same thing as the old one. I've tried to clean the old one and put a new o-ring in it, but that hasn't worked to stop the slow drip.

The manual says to drain the oil before doing this job. Why would they want you to drain the oil? That doesn't make sense to me. Most of the oil is in the bottom of the engine.
